The New Riegel Local School District is located
in Seneca County and encompasses the village of New Riegel. The population of the Village is approximately 225 and the
district serves an area of approximately 30 square miles.
The District was established in 1841 through the
consolidation of existing land areas and school districts. The District ranks 605th largest by enrollment among the
615 public school districts in the state and 6th in Seneca County.
The approximately 450 students who attend
New Riegel are housed in a K-12 building which was built in 2003. New Riegel was one of the first schools in Seneca
County to be built under the Ohio School Facility Commission. It was funded by the state at 89% while the local
share was 11%. The total cost of the project was $12.5 million and there were no locally funded initiatives attached
to the project.
The school colors are Blue and Gold and the school
symbol is an anchor. The school nickname is "Bluejackets".
